REPORT ON WEDNESDAY’S 7-00 pm WINNERS SIDE MATCH BETWEEN DARREN APPLETON V FRANCSISCO BUSTAMANTE
Darren Appleton from England, recent winner of the 10 Ball World Championship, in Manila, Philipines, where he won $100,000, was playing Francisco Bustamante from the Philipines.
Bustamante who has too many title to mentions, and is a legend in his own lifetime, showed he has not lost any of his pool magic over his long career.
Darren quickly gets to 2-0, and looked to be in complete control. Then after a safety bout of 4 safes to win his first game, Francisco took control of the game and was soon ahead, running out the next three racks, to put the score at 4-2 to Bustamante.
In the seventh rack Francisco looked to be running out an easy rack, when he missed the four ball, leaving an almost straight in five Ball for Darren.
Francisco won the next game after a missed shot by Darren… putting the score at 5-2 to Fransisco Bustamante.
Just as quick as it went Bustamante way, Darren quickly took the next three racks, running out two of them. Putting the score at 5-5.
Bustamante took the eleventh rack, then misses and leaves a road map for Darren, putting the match tied at 6-6. Daren never won another game, to leave Francisco to win with the final score at 11-6
To summarize this match Darren made several uncharacteristic mistakes throughout this exiting match, making it easy for Francisco to run out the winner by the lopsided score 11-6
However, do not count Darren out of the event, as he can still find his way to the final from the losers bracket.
