2nd place Alan Chan, 3rd place Ra Hanna, 1st Arturo Reyes

Pool is a game like Golf, Basketball or Baseball, where it takes many, many years to master. In order for a person’s game to come together, there needs to be a perfect mix of talent, skill and heart… resulting in an art form. Hundreds of millions of pool players from all around the world practice…  to develop their skill, experience or to enjoy the process.

In 2 short years of playing 9-ball and not much longer being around the game/sport of pool… Arturo Reyes has made a statement around the Tri-State pool scene. A tough draw in any local tournament, Arturo always leaves 100% of his self on the table. His desire to play this game at it’s highest level comes through in professionalism, commitment and composure.

It is a rare thing to see someone come around the pool scene and quickly take on the characteristics of a professional. With a dedication to improve through competition and an open mind… it won’t be long before Arturo will find himself catching a higher gear soon.

Last weekend (January 9th/10th) Arturo Reyes emerged victorious out of a gritty 38 player field, to capture his second Tri-State 9 Ball Tour event. In a $1,500 added event  Notable players in the A-D field were… Justin Muller, Scott Bannon, Ed Culhane, and Stewart Warnock.

Earning a spot in the finals wouldn’t be easy as he would have to go through Justin Muller who has been playing exceptional of late. In that match Arturo played an exceptional set, showing a professional composure when things didn’t go well, and commitment to each shot, when he was at the table. While Justin put the pressure on early… Arturo was able to rally and catch a gear leading to a 7-3 victory.

This win earned Arturo a spot in the Hot Seat. Ra Hanna was impressive, showing heart with a clutch “Hill-Hill” win over Alan Chan. Ra wasn’t able to keep an impressive early run alive as Arturo was dominant in a 7-2 win. This earned Arturo an undefeated place in the finals.

Rikki Ragoonanan defeated Mark Mallari 7-5, Brian Hunter 7-3 and Justin Muller 7-4 lining up a match with Alan Chan. Alan was solid en-route to a 8-4 score. Alan improved his momentum in an authoritative win over Ra Hanna 6-1. Alan took an early lead but watched Arturo take control by winning the next 5 games to Alan’s, leading to a 7-4 final.

Arturo would like to thank his new sponsor “Billar Luna Azul” which is a successful pool room in Queretaro Mexico. “Billar Luna Azul” also sponsors one of the strongest players in the world…  ”The Mexican” Ignacio Chavez. Besides pool Arturo has a full time job as a waiter at the Famous Italian Restaurant in NYC called “Alto“. Ask for Arturo, next time you go!
