Dragon Promotions has been successful in becoming one of the leading promoters in the world today. DP has been supporting pool growth in the US for the past 8 years and established itself as an international tour de force taking on ambitious projects such as promoting billiards growth in India. Perhaps DP’s greatest accomplishment to date has been its single handed creation of a billiards boom in Korea for the past five years, creating billiards as a viable sports program there with multiple TV networks. Now Dragon Promotions looks to broaden billiards popularity in the Philippines, a country with one of the most enormous potentials in pool today.
Darren Appleton Wins United States Bar Table Championships 10-Ball Event
February 27, 2009
The 16th Annual United States Bar Table Championships kicked off on February 23rd and just concluded its 10-ball event on Wednesday, February 25th.
Darren Appleton defeated Glenn Atwell in the finals of the 2009 US Bar Table Championships at the Sands Regency Hotel and Casino in Reno, NV. Glenn Atwell played very well throughout the event, and defeated more than his share of strong players along the way. He was faced with the daunting challenge of having to beat the current WPA World Ten Ball Champion, Darren Appleton twice in order to claim the title.
Player Spotlight on Jeremy Sossei: The Path of a “Giant Killer”
February 27, 2009
By NYC Grind Contributor, “The Other” Alison Fischer
Focus, determination, and heart: qualities that are critical for success in pool–as in all sports–are exemplified in one Jeremy Sossei. The 29-year-old Sossei, nicknamed the “Giant Killer,” hails from Bethlehem, Connecticut, and has become a well-known face on the Northeast pool circuit. Sossei has a presence at the table that is cool, focused, and deliberate–a presence that most do not look forward to meeting on the table.
Jeremy made his mark at the 2007 Ocean State Championship, at Snooker’s Pool Lounge in Providence, Rhode Island, after beating NYC’s Tony Robles twice in the finals to claim the title. After being knocked to the one-loss side by Mike Dechaine on the first day of the event, Sossei came back to drive through Kevin Guimond, Joey Testa, Dennis Hatch, and George San Souci, landing him in the finals against Robles. Although Sossei’s triumphant win at Snooker’s put his name on the map, it’s safe to say that this “Giant Killer” is not letting up any time soon.
Shortly after his 4th place finish in the 2009 Predator 9-ball Tour opener on February 7-8, I had the chance to speak with Jeremy about what his journey as a pool player has been like so far, as well as his perspective on the sport of pool.
Pro Pool Player Kid Delicious is Bringing His Appetite and Pool Cue to Johnny G’s for a Unique Event that is Slated to Satisfy
February 24, 2009

Danny Basavich or “Kid Delicous” as many know him, is potentially “The Last True Pool Hustler” and the biggest appetite in the game today. Danny is a big kid, with an even bigger heart. His appetite today however, is fueled more by his desire to entertain and inspire, as well as promote his new book.
Since having a near death Heart Attack, Danny has shifted his focus on practice and giving lessons and exhibitions. Danny is missed on the Pool Tour, but don’t count the kid out, as he is gearing up for a major comeback.
“Kid Delicious” has been seen on ABC’s Nightline which aired an awesome segment on a “Pool Hustler.” In the piece, they highlighted Danny’s journey in the pool world as well as touched on the book written by Senior Sports Writer Jon Wertheim, titled “Running the Table”.
Tonight you can watch Danny live giving a unique type of exhibition…. read on!

Ralf Souquet Dominates the Joss Tour’s Turning Stone Classic XII
February 23, 2009
Written by NYC Grind Contributing Writer, Geoff Conway
The Joss Tour’s Turning Stone Classic XII has come to its completion, I am standing in the arena at 9:30 pm on Sunday evening, and the beautiful Diamond tables are being put to bed in the big rig to haul them back to Kentucky.
At the same time, the spectators are leaving and making their way back home in the snow, and the 128 players that entered this unique event have dispersed to their local and far-flung homes.
Unfortunately for them, their departure time was subject to how they faired in the tournament, and could be called back home at any time at the whim of their opponent.
