The Action Report (TAR) To Stream NCS Qualifier At Pool Sharks in Las Vegas

CueSports International is excited to announce that The Action Report (TAR) will be streaming the NCS 8-ball qualifier live from Pool Sharks in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 10-11.
The top two players from the $1000 added qualifier will go to the NCS 8-Ball Championship at the stunning Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas in February. TAR will also be streaming the action from the Golden Nugget to the poolplaying community.
“Spain” Mark Vidal captures the North Jersey 14.1 (Straight Pool) Quarterly at Comet Billiards

Twenty-one players braved the snow and freezing temperatures to compete in The North Jersey 14.1 Straight Pool Pro/Am Quarterly tournament held at Comet Billiards over the weekend of December 20-21, 2008. Players came from as far as Rode Island and Bucks County Pennsylvania to test their skills in what is quickly becoming a very popular straight pool tournament event. Accu-stats, streamed live online the three final matches on Sunday from its Accu-stats Arena and reported that 7,400 unique viewers watched the final match between Marc Vidal and Jason Michas.
Marc Vidal won the tournament and in so doing demonstrated great pocket billiard versatility with his skills in straight pool and in recently winning the New York State Predator 9-Ball Championship. Remaining on the winning side of the chart throughout the tournament, Marc had a notable victory in the first round against third place finisher Gerard Soriano, by a score of 110 to 61. Both players play at Skill Level 3, each needing 110 points for the win.

Korea Victorious Over Japan in 3rd Annual MBC ESPN Korea vs Japan 9-Ball Championship

Seoul, Korea- The South Koreans defeated the very strong Team Japan in the 3rd Annual MBC ESPN Korea vs Japan 9-Ball Championship. The two previous events had Korea defeating Japan 9-6 and then Japan coming back to defeat Korea 9-7 the following year.
This time both teams changed their line-up which made for some very interesting matches. Korea was made up of World Games Gold Medalist Jeanette Lee, US Open Semi-Finalist Yu Ram Cha, Korea Junior Champion Kang Lee, and 2007 Korea Pro Tour Champion Hyeon Ho Kim (Charlie Williams).
Japan sent their best team yet with two top 5 men ranked players Yukio Akakariyama and Yosihiro Kitatani , along with Japan #2 women’s player Yukiko Hamanisi and 8x Japan #1 Akimi Kajitani. The event would be the first team to 7 matches and aired live on MBC ESPN.
Danny Barouty and Bob Maidoff Split in the Accu-Stats Straight Pool Challenge!

On Sunday December 14th, Accu-Stats produced a special event at Comet Billiards. The event was a Straight Pool Challenge Match between Danny Barouty and Bob Maidoff.
These two straight pool heavyweights matched up with the help of Accu-Stats, as they put together a full broadcast quality live streaming PPV event from the new home of the Accu-Stats arena, Comet Billiards.

NCS (National Championship Series) Announces 8 Ball Qualifier at Comet Billiards, Home of the New Accu-Stats Arena

The NCS 8-Ball Championship based on 64 players will have a $32,000 prize fund and one player will win 1 of only 5 spots representing the United States to the WPA World 8-Ball Championship, which has a prize fund of $200,000.

Brooklyn Pool Room Skyline Billiards announces new Monthly 9 Ball Open Tournaments!

Beginning January 11, 2009, Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn, New York, plans to initiate a nine-ball monthly open tournament for those interested and in the general vicinity.
The venue located at 2515 McDonald Avenue will impose a thirty-two player limit for each event.

Vanessa Chakour celebrates collaborative creation: A shift of consciousness into the New Year

Chakour unveils new pieces in celebration of Obama and a shift in our cultural consciousness.
Event will announce collaborations with Queen Herawin of the Juggaknots, Revive Da Live and the Hip Hop Association (H2A).
The prints and original work feature Chakour’s abstract art evoking evolving liberation and visual interpretations of sound. She will show the first in a series of pieces in collaboration with Queen Herwin.
Queen Herwin is an MC, entrepreneur (Owner of Ambrosia Gallery in New Rochelle), educator and visual artist. As well as being a visual artist, Chakour is an activist, boxer/boxing coach.
Both come from a family of artists and musicians where music, visual art and activism played an integral role in their lives.
Queen Herwin and Chakour will be at Halcyon on the 18th to discuss their work and other exciting upcoming collaboration and individual projects.
Chakour will also announce and unveil the first in her new line of shirts that will, as of January 2009 feature music downloads with Revive Da Live, recognized for collaborating some of the most well known musicians in Jazz with Hip Hop Legends in creative concept shows dedicated to creating appreciation and awareness of Jazz, live music, underground Hip Hop and the musicians behind the music. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Hip Hop Association (H2A) who use art and music as a tool for education and empowerment.
The event will be catered by Ginger Root cafe, a pan-Caribbean restaurant located on 702 Washington Ave, the heart of Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Guyanese-born owner/chef Lyra Petrie prepares gourmet-quality food daily in an open kitchen environment that evokes memories of your mom’s cooking back home. Ginger Root Cafe uses fresh, high quality ingredients and healthier cooking methods to create a wide range of delicacies, including traditional Caribbean favorites such as rotis, oxtail stew, rice and peas and homemade drinks, as well as mainstream fare such as grilled chicken and salmon dishes, macaroni, and a plethora of homemade baked goods.
