Mika’s breakout hot stick, will surely inspire interest in the recent launch of a breakthrough instructional DVD called Mastering Pool (www.mastering-pool.com), which is unlike any other instructional DVD on the market today.

Rooftop Films Pushes Underground and Independent Film to new Heights!
November 24, 2008
Rooftop Films, started out atop a tenement apartment building on 14th Street in Manhattan.
In June 2009 Rooftop Films will celebrating their 13th year of bringing the best underground films in the world outdoors and to the rooftops of New York.
Through a forward thinking paradigm of getting people interested over independent screenings and short films, Rooftop raises the bar.
Rooftop Films has emerged as an organizing force that mashes up unique and entertaining shows. Rooftop has stood out for inviting musicians to perform before shows, as well as other creative fusions.
Currently on their main website (rooftopfilms.com), they have one of the funniest animation shorts that I have ever seen called CRAZY EYES DOLPHIN VS. THE MAD COWS. The film is a sobering animated expose about how Mad Cow Disease is now Killing Dolphis. Via Karate.
Curious about how to get your piece shown?
On the final day of Action at the All Japan Championships, Mika Immonen is Undefeated in Quarterfinals!
November 23, 2008
The All Japan Championships is winding down and “The Ice Man” Mika Immonen is proving to ice in his veins.
As Mika Immonen continues to make a statement on both a regional and International level… pool fans everywhere have to take notice.
It is impressive from a pool player and fans perspective to watch a player who is a true athlete, making such a positive impact. Not only is Mika Immonen a great player, but he is also an outstanding pool coach and leader.
As pool’s interest in Asia is incredibly high… Mika’s dominant play will surely stir up a positive buzz for the sport/game. Mika is an international player from Finland, originally but has a huge fan base in NY and the North East.
So maybe Mika isn’t as a dominant force as a Tiger Woods, or Michael Jordan in his prime… but in the here and now, Mika Immonen is tearing up the pool scene.

November 23, 2008
“The Ice Man” Mika Immonen has been on fire of late, winning the 2007 US Open 9 Ball Championship, the IPT Pro Am as well as following up with second place at the Asian 10 Ball Championships.
Mika has been unsuccessful with a 0-4 record in the finals of the Japan Open. Just as he was able to break through losing in the finals of the US Open and coming in 3rd… Mika will look to break through in Japan.
This event is huge for Mika, as he looks to continue his momentum and stellar play.
Emerging superstar Yu Ram Cha, who recently was named the Most Improved player by the WPBA, will be looking to break through in Japan.
Yu Ram Cha is the real deal, and noticeably stepped up her game in this past year. She will be looking to make a statement at the Japan Open, which she has not faired well in the past.

Two of NYC’s Most Influential Artists Awaken Dumbo’s Senses.
November 22, 2008
November 6th, at the hot spot multimedia art caberet and performance venue, Le Poisson Rouge, Revive Da Live presented the debut of the Flagship Series sparked new audiences to the progression of jazz and hip-hop.
The show brought together some of the best in authentic hip-hop and also featured some heavy-hitting breakthrough jazz talent who are still under the radar to much of the mainstream.
In addition to the musical artists who were showcased, the work of another emerging (visual) artist by the name of Vanessa Chakour was featured at this performance.
Behind the performers hung an amazing Vanessa Chakour piece called “Happier Than the Morning Sun.” The painting was a big hit with the crowd and complimented the overarching theme of change and progression.
Vanessa is showcasing her work along with another modern conceptional artist by the name of Robin Kahn. Robin’s work makes a statement through her unconventional style and perspective.
Currently Vanessa has several pieces up at the Ambrosia Art Gallery which is in New Rochelle. This past Friday, Ambrosia added a few new pieces, which will be up until December 1st.
In Dumbo Brookly, from December 4-7th… Vanessa will be teaming up with Robin Kahn to showcase recent and past work.

On November 6, Revive Da Live, one of NY’s hottest “mash-up” underground music promotion movements, debuted their “Flagship Series” and introduced new music at the Village hot spot, Le Poisson Rouge. The “Flagship Series” is Revive Da Live’s focus for introducing new, genre-bending live music to the jazz, hip-hop, and underground music communities.
Coming into the show at Le Poisson Rouge, the goal of the Revive Da Live team was to enrich the soul of hip-hop and redefine jazz as a genre that should be relevant to the hip-hop and youth generation at the same time. Meghan Stabile, the founder of Revive Da Live, brought together a collaboration of legendary hip-hop artists to meet some of the most engaging emerging underground jazz artists.
This breakthrough event was hosted by Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97 from Hot 97.
