Day 2 at the US Open 9 Ball Championships Evening Breakdown!
October 21, 2008

Yesterday, the action on the 2nd day of the 2008 US Open 9-ball Championships moved into round two, and we had the chance to see more new faces, both local and international, face off throughout the day. This tournament truly is an opportunity to see action unlike any other, and there’s still so much more yet to come this week here in Chesapeake.
At 3:00 on Day 2, we saw a great match up between Chris Futrell and Max Eberle. 18-year-old Chris is the recent Super Billiard Expo Amateur Open Champion, based here in his hometown of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Max is a UPA pro as well as author of the recently released book, Zen Pool. Max led the match and has been playing strong so far this week, but Chris really showed what he’s capable of and came up from behind to bring the score hill-hill. This match soon drew an great crowd of over 40 people, including Shane Van Boening, who walked in drinking a cup of coffee to watch the action. The pressure was certainly on both of these players, but Max came up on top by runninh out from the 3-ball in the final game, after Chris played an unsuccessful kick safe. Both players displayed great sportsmanship and grit through this match.
